So, physicians treating people with red hair or a tendency to freckle, or whose parents did, have long been aware that something was up. Somatic mutations are changes to the underlying germline genes that exist only in the tumor sample and are therefore thought to play some role in cancer initiation or growth. Just 28 of the individuals whose tumors were genetically sequenced carried two of the R alleles linked to redheadedness.
February 7, For every people in the world, only one or two will have red hair. And when you meet a red head with blue eyesyou are looking at the rarest colour combination of all for human beings.

It first aired on November 9, Cartman suffers from a mysterious and sudden onset of Gingervitus. Sick and tired of being ridiculed for his red hair, light skin and freckles, he rallies all the ginger kids everywhere to fight against discrimination and rise up and become the master race they are intended to be. He also argues that they cannot stand the sun much like Vampires.
Any of the small brownish spots on the skin that turn darker or increase in number upon exposure to the sun. In summer her face was always covered with freckles. Mentioned in?
Scientists are a step closer to understanding why people with the genes for red hair have a greater risk of developing the potentially deadly skin cancer melanoma. Research has revealed that patients with the genes for red hair have more mutations in their skin cancer than those without. Red hair, fair skin and a sensitivity to the sun are down to variations in a gene called MC1R that affects the production of pigments, called melanins, in the skin.
Scientists looking in to why some people age better than others have found people who carried the MC1R gene looked much younger than their real age. The MC1R gene - is critical for making melanin, which affects skin pigmentation and protects against UV radiation from the sun. But the variations of the gene also leads to red hair and freckles.
The MC1R gene variant can boost the risk of skin cancer by the equivalent of 21 extra years of sun exposure, say scientists. Red-haired people all have two copies of the variant, which causes a strong tendency to burn in the sun. But even a single copy of the variant, found in many people without red hair and freckles, increases the number of gene mutations associated with malignant melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, research shows. Redheads are disproportionately represented in Ireland, making up more than 6 per cent of the population, compared with 1 per cent to 2 per cent of the rest of the world.
Red hair or ginger hair occurs naturally in one to two percent of the human populationappearing with greater frequency two to six percent among people of Northern or Northwestern European ancestry and lesser frequency in other populations. It is most common in individuals homozygous for a recessive allele on chromosome 16 that produces an altered version of the MC1R protein. Red hair varies in hue from a deep burgundy or bright copper auburn to burnt orange or red-orange to and strawberry blond.
